Privacy Policy for the Scelta and Scelta Pro Apps

1. Introduction

Scelta and Scelta Pro are designed to help you track your weight and achieve your personal goals while prioritizing your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains which data is collected, how it is processed and stored, and how third-party services are used. Scelta is designed to minimize the collection of personally identifiable information.

2. Data Collection and Processing

a) Weight Data, Photos, Notes, and Goals

Local Storage:

All weight entries, photos, notes, and personal goals that you enter in Scelta are stored exclusively locally on your device. They are used solely to display your progress within the app.

Deletion:

Deleting Scelta from your device will remove all locally stored weight entries, photos, notes, and goals.

b) Virtual Points, Coins, and Achievements

Virtual Rewards:

By adhering to your personal weight goals, you can earn abstract SP points, coins, and achievements.

Game Center / Google Play Games:

If you choose to enable Game Center on iOS or Google Play Games on Android, your virtual rewards may be visualized and shared through your respective account.

Privacy of Personal Data:

Only abstract game and reward data such as points, coins, and achievements is shared with these services. If Game Center or Google Play Games is enabled, this data may be linked by the respective provider to your account with that provider. Your actual weight entries, photos, notes, or detailed goal information are never transmitted or made public.

3. Data Storage and Synchronization

Local Data:

All data related to your weight entries, photos, notes, goals, and progress remains on your device.

Game Center / Google Play Games:

Virtual rewards and related information are stored and managed by Apple Game Center or Google Play Games, depending on your device. These platforms do not receive any detailed personal weight data from Scelta.

4. Use of the Apple Health App

Optional Integration:

Scelta can optionally read from and write to the Apple Health app if you grant the necessary permissions.

Data Access:

Once access is granted, Scelta can read weight entries and other Health data you explicitly allow, to the extent required for the features you enable.

Data Deletion:

Scelta can only delete Health app entries that were created through Scelta itself. To remove entries created by other apps, please use the Apple Health app or the original app that generated those entries.

5. Third-Party Services

a) Payment Processing and Apple Search Ads Attribution with RevenueCat

Scelta uses RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases, subscriptions, and Pro access. In this context, a randomly generated user identifier is used to manage subscription status and in-app purchases.

RevenueCat processes information required for purchase handling, restoring purchases, subscription status, and providing Scelta Pro. For more details, please refer to RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy:

https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

On iOS, RevenueCat may additionally receive an Apple Search Ads attribution token through Apple’s AdServices framework if provided by the system. RevenueCat uses this token to broadly attribute installs, purchases, or subscription events to Apple Search Ads campaigns or organic sources and to analyze the effectiveness of Apple Search Ads campaigns. Scelta does not use the IDFA advertising identifier for this and does not request App Tracking Transparency permission for this purpose. Standard AdServices attribution is not used to track you across apps or websites.

b) Usage Analytics with TelemetryDeck

On iOS, Scelta uses the analytics service TelemetryDeck, provided by TelemetryDeck GmbH, Von-der-Tann-Str. 54, 86159 Augsburg, Germany. TelemetryDeck is used to better understand how the app is used and to improve Scelta.

TelemetryDeck processes anonymous or TelemetryDeck-anonymized usage events. These may include, for example:

- whether the app was used during a month,

- which general features were used,

- which onboarding steps were seen or completed,

- which coarse onboarding answer categories were selected,

- which optional health and fitness features were selected or requested, such as BMI, body fat, waist, or Health import,

- whether certain Pro prompts or paywall interactions occurred.

Scelta does not send weight values, body values, HealthKit values, BMI values, body fat values, waist values, height, photos, notes, free text, contacts, or entry IDs to TelemetryDeck. We also do not send an email address, name, custom user ID, RevenueCat customer ID, transaction ID, prices, or product IDs.

Signals may include technical metadata such as app version, build version, device type or device family, operating system version, language, region, coarse subscription status (free/pro), and technical accessibility-related settings such as preferred text size, bold text, reduced motion, or reduced transparency. TelemetryDeck also uses an anonymized installation or device identifier so that recurring usage can be counted. According to TelemetryDeck, IP addresses are not stored.

TelemetryDeck is not used to track users across apps or websites. Scelta does not use TelemetryDeck for advertising, ad measurement, data broker purposes, or cross-app tracking. Scelta does not use the IDFA advertising identifier for this purpose.

The processing is used exclusively for product analytics and improving Scelta, in particular to understand which features are used, where users drop off during onboarding, and which parts of the app should be improved. To the extent that this data may be considered personal data in individual cases, the processing is based on our legitimate interest in privacy-friendly analytics and app improvement under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

More information is available in TelemetryDeck’s privacy information:

c) Analytics and Diagnostics on Android

On Android devices, Scelta uses Firebase services provided by Google Ireland Limited for analytics and diagnostics.

Google Analytics for Firebase:

This service may process data such as unique Instance IDs with timestamps and the device’s advertising ID to provide insights into app usage. Google Analytics retains ID-associated data for 60 days and aggregates other reporting data.

You can restrict the use of the advertising ID in your device settings, for example on Android under Settings > Google > Ads.

Firebase Crashlytics:

Crashlytics records and analyzes error reports and crash data, including device type, operating system version, and error timestamps. This diagnostic data is used solely to improve the app’s stability and performance.

Personal Data:

In most cases, Firebase processes only aggregated and not directly personally identifiable information.

6. Data Deletion and User Control

Local Data:

All weight entries, photos, notes, goals, and progress data stored locally in Scelta can be deleted by uninstalling the app or by using the relevant device data management tools.

Third-Party Data:

Data processed through third-party services such as Apple Health, Game Center, Google Play Games, RevenueCat, TelemetryDeck, or Firebase is managed by the respective provider. If you wish to access or delete data stored by these services, please use the respective service settings or contact the provider directly.

TelemetryDeck Data:

Because TelemetryDeck data is anonymized and not linked to your name, email address, or a Scelta account, individual analytics records usually cannot be assigned to a specific person and therefore cannot generally be individually retrieved or deleted.

Objection:

To the extent that processing is based on legitimate interests, you may object to this processing on grounds relating to your particular situation. You can contact us at joe@waldow.app.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Your continued use of Scelta and Scelta Pro is governed by the current version of this Privacy Policy. We recommend reviewing this page periodically to stay informed of any changes.
